Born in Manchester on 4 July 1935.
The eldest of 9 children Terry joined the army as a regular to get on in life after being deferred as an apprentice draughtsman.
That was just the beginning of the journey as he did his best to get on. He later bought himself out of the army in 1967 with 6 children, an Hons degree and started out as a civvy all over again.
From London to Capetown, from LA to Beijing.
